There are countless life-lessons you can learn from Star Wars. Among all the characters in the universe, you’d be hard-pressed to find one wiser than Yoda. Fundraisers, especially, can glean much from his wisdom.
To celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode VII, here are seven times that @FundraisingYoda taught us the ways of the Fundraising Force:
1. On donor stewardship:
Every day, ask yourself, how have you served your donors today? Hopefully, a good answer, you have.
— Yoda, CFRJ (@FundraisingYoda) November 12, 2015
2. On service recovery:
If a donor complains, fear do not. Care, they do, enough to tell you. Fix and keep a friend.
— Yoda, CFRJ (@FundraisingYoda) January 14, 2015
3. On organizational purpose:
Your organisation does not exist to fundraise. It exists to do good and solve a problem. Forget this, you must not.
— Yoda, CFRJ (@FundraisingYoda) September 25, 2015
4. On fundraising appeals:
True fundraising, it is not, if you do not inspire, thank and show impact. Then just asking for money, that is. Not same thing.
— Yoda, CFRJ (@FundraisingYoda) September 3, 2015
5. On donor love:
Love your donors, or another charity will.
— Yoda, CFRJ (@FundraisingYoda) October 27, 2015
6. On gift acknowledgement:
If a donor gives and was not thanked, then exist, do they? Not for long, friends.
— Yoda, CFRJ (@FundraisingYoda) October 15, 2015
7. On donor engagement:
Give. Get thanked. Feel good. Do it again. The circle is complete. pic.twitter.com/dafhq3zmD8

If you aren’t following @FundraisingYoda, now is the perfect time to start.
May the Force be with you!
