Care is provided in the patient’s home, whether that home is a long-term care facility, assisted living facility or private residence.
The challenge
Shepherd’s Cove Hospice was looking to make the switch from Excel spreadsheets to a true donor database. “We didn’t have a true database. After hearing Bloomerang’s Co-Founder and Chief Relationship Officer, Jay Love, speak at a conference, Annah was sold. She was impressed with Bloomerang’s focus on donor retention and all the ways it could help their hospice.

The solution
Annah and her team had finally found a donor-centered database that could help them improve their current donor engagement efforts, particularly through segmenting their donors. “I am able to better segment communication to donors and reach them with specific messaging they need to hear. We are able to reach out to memorial givers with different messaging than event participants. Nonprofit hospice organizations need to focus on retention, although it’s different than other fundraising organizations in which I’ve worked specifically because of Memorial Gifts. We’ve instituted mailings to say “We remember your loved one” a year after the memorial gift was made. Basically, another thank you and a soft request to continue their legacy by giving again to increase retention.”

Since implementing Bloomerang several pain points have been alleviated for Annah and her team, especially when it comes to making informed fundraising decisions by knowing which donors they should reach out to and when. “Quick reports tell me which donors deserve the majority of my time and attention. I love being able to track so many metrics in one central location. I also love that it was so customizable that we could make it work for many different giving scenarios. Everyone is unique, and I love that it’s a platform we could make work for our quirks!”
Annah and her team have benefited from improvements in key metrics like donor retention and dollars raised. “We weren’t tracking any of that previously. So our implementation of Bloomerang changed everything. Instead of guessing at who we were reaching and how we have it all at our fingertips now.” They’ve also seen improvements in productivity. “To me, this is probably the biggest improvement for our team. We were all over the place with spreadsheets, and there was so many errors and much time wasted. Having Bloomerang saves us time, energy, and sanity in reaching our givers.”
At the end of the day, Bloomerang has been a game-changer for the team at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in helping them get organized and get their fundraising on track. “Bloomerang has been a game-changer for us.
