Ask the Experts: A Panel Discussion All About Gifts
Join us in a roundtable discussion where we will wrap up the week’s sessions with thoughtful tips and expert advice from speakers Rachel, Sandy, and Cherian. This roundtable will be hosted by nonprofit thought leader and speaker, Rachel Muir. At 2PM ET just like all the other sessions.
Learning Objectives:
• Wrap up learnings from the week’s sessions
• Discuss outstanding topics
• Provide key takeaways to take back to your organization
• We’ll also be handing out prizes for a few lucky attendees!
Speaker Rachel Bearbower
Rachel Bearbower is a fundraiser, former ED, and founder. She is the host of the Sprout Podcast and is building a community of small shop Executive Directors inside her membership, SproutED. Her work stems from struggling inside an underfunded, limited-resource, systemless organization despite working countless hours. With the combination of never having enough time and feeling isolated as a leader of a small shop organization, burnout was inevitable. A story that's not unique inside the nonprofit sector. Rachel believes in reclaiming your time to create better relationships with donors and raise more for the mission you love while creating a sustainable impact. You can find her on Instagram at @smallshopstrategies, on LinkedIn or her website at www.smallshopstrategies.com.
Speaker Sandy Rees
Sandy Rees is the Founder and Chief Encouragement Officer of Get Fully Funded, an organization that helps small nonprofits raise the money they need to fully fund their budgets. She makes fundraising easy by providing people with practical, proven strategies and the inspiration they need to be wildly successful.
In 1998, Sandy began her career in nonprofit, serving first as a Board member for Knox Area Rescue Ministries, then transitioning to a staff member. She also worked for Second Harvest Food Bank and the Joy of Music School. In 2005, she started Get Fully Funded and dedicated herself to helping small nonprofits raise big money. Since then, she's grown her team to 15 people, located across the US and Africa, with expertise in all areas of nonprofit fundraising. Clients range from brand-new local nonprofits to large, international organizations, covering a wide variety of causes.
Speaker Cherian Koshy
Cherian Koshy is a Certified Fund Raising Executive and AFP Master Trainer with more than twenty years of experience in a variety of nonprofits where he has successfully helped organizations connect thousands of donors to causes they care about and raising tens of millions of dollars from foundations, governments, businesses, and individuals in the process. He currently serves as the Director of Development at Des Moines Performing Arts, one of the nation's premier arts organizations. As a member of the advisory panel for Rogare: The Fundraising Think Tank, he has written a number of articles and contributed to a number of papers on fundraising ethics, professional development, and philanthropy in the US. He was appointed by the governor and is the vice-chair of Iowa’s Commission on Volunteer Service where he helps advance legislation to support volunteerism and engage Iowans in volunteer activity. He is a co-founder of the Des Moines Fundraising Institute, a non-profit designed to instruct fundraisers on best practices. Nationally, he serves as a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals External Relations and Professional Development Divisions as well as a regular presenter at the AFP International Conference and regional workshops on fundraising.
Host Kate Kramer
Kate Kramer has over 15 years of development and marketing experience. As the Partner Marketing Manager at Bloomerang, she continues to support organizations that are mission-driven and that positively impact the world. In her previous role as Foundation Manager for the VRMC Foundation, she managed the annual giving programs, including special events and mailing appeals, assisted and oversaw the annual budget and marketing plans, and managed a major gift donor portfolio of over 150 donors.
Host Rachel Muir
Rachel has worked every side of the Rubik’s cube that is the nonprofit sector. When she was 26 she launched Girlstart, a non-profit empowering girls in math, science, engineering and technology in the living room of her apartment with $500 and a credit card. Several years later she had raised over 10 million and was featured on Oprah, CNN, and the Today show. Today Rachel delivers workshops and offers a monthly membership, League of Extraordinary Fundraisers, transforming people into confident, successful fundraisers.
