The Sustainability Scorecard, by Bloomerang

Today’s donor, whether they’re an individual, a foundation or a corporation, has never been more judicious about who they give their hard-earned dollars to.

Unfortunately, many nonprofits lack the organizational standards and metrics that funders demand of those they might consider supporting.

That’s why we’ve created the Sustainability Scorecard, a unique operational assessment and data analysis tool that will set you on the path towards organizational sustainability.

Features

Sustainability Assessment & Organizational Health Score

This short survey is designed to be taken once per quarter, and covers the criteria needed to achieve organizational sustainability. A score will be given based on the responses to each assessment, giving you a trend map of your organization’s overall health.

Sustainability Assessment

The survey encourages you to have documents in place like a strategic plan and succession plan, and encourages you to pursue frequent impact reporting, board and staff giving, and volunteer engagement. Gone are the days of wondering what policies and procedures and needed to achieve organizational sustainability!

Organizational Health Score

Each assessment is scored from 0.0 to 4.0 and charted on a line graph for each completed assessment. Not only will this tool be useful in holding your organization accountable operationally, but doing so will make your organization very attractive to foundations and major donors.

Face-to-face meetings are critical to fostering relationships with donors, especially major and planned gift prospects. Use this metric as encouragement to get out of the office and spend some time with your donors!

Tracking your in-kind gifts is the first step towards properly acknowledging and stewarding those valuable individual and corporate donors! If in-kind gifts aren’t something your organization pursues, you might be missing out on things like office and kitchen supplies, marketing collateral and other material resources.

By tracking your average monthly donor value, you can being to forecast the amount of revenue expected per month from donor contributions, in addition to maximizing those contributions.

Along with your current donor retention rate on the Bloomerang dashboard, the Sustainability Scorecard will display your current progress towards achieving at least last year’s donor retention rate during the same time period.

What gets measured gets improved upon! Track your year-to-date performance for face-to-face meetings with donors, in-kind gifts, your monthly donor value and donor retention rate. Goals are set based on your performance in the previous fiscal year-to-date, and progress is updated daily.

Data pulled directly from your Bloomerang database will give you an at-a-glance view of where in the donor pyramid your supporters lie. Small, mid and major donors aren’t just defined by their gift amount, but also by their length of giving – giving you a clearer picture of where your most loyal supporters truly lie.

Perfectly Mobile Responsive

We know you aren’t always tied to a desk. That’s why we made Bloomerang’s Sustainability Scorecard to be 100% mobile accessible so that you can track your progress with the same experience on a tablet or smartphone as you do on a desktop computer.

Why Sustainability, Why Now?

Donors today are increasingly sensitive about who they donate their hard money to. Donors treat their charitable giving like an investment, and just like any financial investment they expect a return on that investment. For nonprofits, that means having the ability to report on outcomes and demonstrate that their organization is sustainable.

If your organization isn’t already being asked the kind of metrics the Sustainability Scorecard provides, it will soon.
