Bloomerang understands the unique fundraising challenges of YMCAs. There’s no reason for technology to get in the way of bringing about meaningful change in individuals and communities. That’s why numerous YMCA programs nationwide have chosen Bloomerang’s donor database solution.
Below are just a few thoughts and success stories from organizations just like yours.
The YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester is committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are a charitable, not-for-profit organization that welcomes all people regardless of age, race, religion or economic status and strives to enrich each and every life through a unique, dynamic combination of programs that strengthens spirit, mind and body.
We believe all children deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That’s why, through the Y, youth today are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement.
YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester was looking for an affordable, data-driven donor management system that could efficiently house, organize, and segment their data. “I needed a good value and I needed to transfer 20 years of data from outdated accounting software,” said Mary Rahe, Director of Development at YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester.
After doing some research, Mary realized that Bloomerang might just be the affordable, and easy-to-learn and use solution they were searching for.
YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester had finally found a dependable, user-friendly system that could grow with them. Increasing donor retention and simplifying development processes were important to Mary. “I like that I can see my donor retention stats every time I open Bloomerang.”
Being able to run reports and segment all of their data was also important, and that’s why Mary was originally drawn to Bloomerang’s reporting functionality and user friendliness. On top of that, finding a solution with “excellent” customer support was a nice bonus.
YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester has seen several fundraising pain points be alleviated since implementing Bloomerang. One such benefit is that the development team is now able to spend more time doing what they do best. “Quick reports means more time spent in the development cycle.”
At the end of the day, implementing Bloomerang has contributed to YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester putting more focus on donor research, tracking, and retention. Not only that, but having the social listening hub has helped with their social reach. “Our social media reach has increased.”
It’s amazing what a user-friendly, donor-centric tool can do for the growth of an organization such as YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester. “Overall, I love Bloomerang and have recommended it to many of my colleagues in nonprofit.”
Pav YMCA has been working to strengthen the communities of Berwyn, Cicero, Riverside, North Riverside, Stickney, Forest View and Lyons, IL since 1970. They award nearly $100,000 in fee assistance to individuals and families annually.

Esther Chase, Marketing & Financial Development Director, joined after Pav YMCA added Bloomerang in mid-2014. She had previously used DonorPerfect, but loves the ease-of-use Bloomerang provides.
“We use Bloomerang to keep tabs of how close we are to making our goal, and we use it to generate acknowledgment letters. I like the ability to print letters–much easier than DonorPerfect.”
With Bloomerang, Pav YMCA now has a solid companion to their membership software.
“We now have a much more user-friendly way to start keeping track of donor engagement. I think the visual representation of how far we are along, as well as the online interface, are two bonuses that the version of membership software we use does not provide. It’s super easy to upload batch donations.”
