San Diego was such a wonderful venue for the AFP International Conference on Fundraising and we at Bloomerang really enjoyed talking with so many dedicated fundraisers. I wanted to share something I took away from the conference that I thought was quite fascinating. 

Bloomerang at AFPAt Bloomerang, we know that fundraisers often don’t use many of the features available to them in their current databases. We had fun with our “theater” in the exhibit hall where we gave 5-minute presentations about Bloomerang. One of the questions we ask in the presentation is “What percent of the features in your current donor database do you use?” From our previous research, we expected the answers to that questions to average around 20%. While that was the answer from many, I was surprised to hear so many reply with answers such as 10%, 5%, and even 3%! Now, I realize some of the responses on the extremely low end were exaggerations, but what comes through loud and clear in these responses is the sheer frustration with databases that are so complex that people aren’t able use them!

It was really nice to be reassured over and over at the conference that Bloomerang is right on the mark with a robust, yet simple to learn and easy to use CRM database. We really are having a great time getting the word out about Bloomerang!
