Happy #GivingTuesday! We wanted to share a little bit about the organizations our employees personally support and why they gave today.

“I am making a small donation to Shepherd Community, where I serve as a youth mentor. If you’re not familiar with them, their mission is to break the cycle of poverty on Indy’s near east side. Breaking the cycle of poverty has long been at the center of my personal mission, as is anything that has to do with youth development. I’ve been actively engaged there since 2008.” – Chris

“Salvation Army is an easy choice and a favorite. My grandmother was an amazing woman and forever a salvation army soldier. Donating online was easy!” – Nancy

“I donated to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. They do a great job of improving neighborhood quality all over Indianapolis. Plus, MIBOR (Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors) matched my donation!” – Steven

“Made one to WFYI because I listen to a lot of Public Radio, but, scandalously, had never capitulated during one of their pledge drives, so it seemed as good a time as any to start.” – Michael

#unselfie“I donated to Starfish Initiative because of how well they measure their mission’s outcomes and report them back.” – Jay

“We donated to two organizations today – ARPO because we adopted one of our dogs from them, and they really were wonderful to the animals. Also we donated to the local Toys for Tots organization because we think no kid should be without a gift on Christmas, and we have donated to them many times in the past.” – John

“I donated to Second Helpings. Literacy and hunger are my two main causes and I just donated to the library foundation over the weekend. I also wanted to select someone that was listed on the #GivingTuesday site, so I chose Second Helpings.” – Amy

“I donated to the Decatur County Public Library because we take the kids there about once a week and they have excellent programs for kids.” – Matt

“I chose the Wikimedia Foundation. I’ve been meaning to donate to them again for awhile, and since it’s Giving Tuesday, why not today, right?” – Melissa

“We will make a donation to the Home For Friendless Animals. Our family loves animals and are grateful for the joy our own have brought to us. They truly cannot speak for themselves. Not to brag on my daughter, but last year for her tenth birthday, she had a party at our church where we watched the movie “Hotel For Dogs.” Instead of gifts, she asked the children to bring donations for the animal shelter. A few months later, one of the girls she invited to her party, had a birthday party and asked the children to bring items for Riley Children’s Hospital. We are not sure, but we like to think our daughter’s act of selflessness inspired her.” – Judi

We’re excited to see how these organizations follow-up on their #GivingTuesday gifts. What organization(s) did you give to? Let us know in the comments below!
