So you’ve made the move to Bloomerang! Or at least you’re thinking about it, but you’ve got some baggage: your data. This information is important to you; it’s the lifeblood of your organization, simple as that. However, often this important information isn’t stored as cleanly as you would have liked, or maybe it’s just not being reported on. That’s where the conversion process comes into play.
Some customers enter their initial mapping call a bit apprehensive, and even a bit embarrassed of their data. It’s not your fault! We get it! The problem is that many customers had a specific way they wanted to represent or query their data that just wasn’t supported by their previous system, which forced them to store the data obscurely. An average conversion team would just bring this data over one-to-one in the new system, “garbage in, garbage out” as they say. Our conversion team does not believe this tactic is not in our customers’ best interest.
When a customer presents us with their data, we walk through it with them field by field basis. The intent of this process is not to put each field into a “bucket”. Rather, we’re interested in getting to know your data and how you report on it so that we only bring over what is really useful to your organization. Having a team dedicated to working with you on your unique data needs is essential to a successful
conversion.
Conversions simply cannot be a one-size-fits all operation. Each customer should have a custom tailored solution for their data needs. That is why our mapping calls are often query driven and focus on only your essential data. This ensures the freshest possible start for you to begin successfully using your new database. Additionally, your data will be more streamlined to for you to focus on what really matters: donor retention!
