The Bloomies are our award for outstanding donor communications in the nonprofit sector. Each week, we’ll feature a newsletter, email, direct mail piece, acknowledgement, solicitation or social media post that caught our eye.

Nominated by: Claire Axelrad, J.D., CFRE

Tell us about the fundraiser and/or organization you are nominating:

Julia R. Wilson, CEO of OneJustice.

OneJustice is dedicated to removing barriers to justice wherever they are most prevalent. They do so through a network of 100+ low-income legal services organizations across the state of California, through partnerships with law firms and law schools, and through their own initiatives such as the Justice Bus Trips they send to reach underserved immigrants, veterans, seniors and at-risk youth in remote rural parts of the state.

Tell us about the piece you are nominating:

A thank you email sent to their supporters at the end of the year. It includes a great video that OneJustice made.

I’ve worked with on and off over the past few years. They did this all on their own however, and I couldn’t be more proud!

Why do you think they are deserving of a Bloomie?

It really makes the donors feel like heroes, and shows them the impact of their giving. It’s simple, it’s heartfelt and it’s fun. I think it does a great job of making the donor feel really good about their philanthropic investment.
