3 Easy Ways to Win at Donor Retention in the New Year

Happy Holidays!

Ready for your favorite holiday meal with all the trimmings? Relaxing on the couch in front of a warm cozy fire? Watching a child’s eyes light up unwrapping their present?

Listen, you worked hard all year. You’re on the nice list! Before visions of sugarplums start dancing in your head I have a holiday gift for you.

I want this coming year to be your best year ever because you’re retaining and upgrading your donors. I’m all about the #donorlove!

Enjoy these simple, affordable tools to help you raise more next year and keep more donors. I’ve got more than 20 killer ideas to help you retain and upgrade your donors in a handy template you can download here.

Put these stewardship strategies in your back pocket and make this year your best year ever.

Want a few BONUS ideas to get you started? Here are three of my favorites:

1. Celebrate the anniversary of your donor’s first gift, a “Donorversary”

Whether your donor has been giving to you for one month or 10 years, reminding them can make them feel like a complete rock star for what they already accomplished in in such a short time, i.e. “it’s only been 3 months and already your gift has…” or the big milestone their longtime loyalty made happen. Remember, your donor may not remember how long they’ve been giving to you. Reminding them reinforces what a valuable part of the family they are!

2. Follow a solid, actionable plan to acknowledge, thank and welcome new donors properly.

Don’t have a solid, actionable plan? You need a thoughtful plan to convert these people to your cause. Don’t worry, I got your back! Download your sample stewardship plan now.

3. Try these killer digital tools to make it super easy!

The only thing better than great stewardship is simple tools to make it easy. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Feltapp.com

If you have an iPhone or iPad go to the app store and download this gem. It’s easy, affordable digital stewardship made easy.  This app allows you to send handwritten cards you craft on your iPad or iPhone. A few days later your donor opens your thoughtful handwritten stamped envelope with a card inside from yours truly! The folks at Feltapp.com offer sample cards and let you personalize with your iPhone camera roll, Instagram or Facebook feed. They can even make you’re your own branded custom stationary!

Bombbomb.com
